Our virtual Princess cruise of Alaska continues the next morning as you eat breakfast, the Diamond Princess heading along the spectacular Gastineau Channel.
At around 10:30 AM, the ship pulls into the dock at Juneau, the beautiful capitol of Alaska.
The city is simply in one of the most spectacular locations imaginable, set on the deep blue waters of the Gastineau Channel, surrounded by lush, snow-capped mountain peaks.
This trip is my choice for the best adventure excursion in Alaska, and it includes a one-hour dog sled ride on top of a glacier.
After you return from your adventure tour, you still have enough time to explore this beautiful city.
You head first to the Mt. Roberts Tramway station, which is located right across from the dock.
A short trip in the Swiss-built tram car brings you up over 1800 feet above the city to the peak of Mt. Roberts.
From the mountaintop, you are treated to a breathtaking view of the city, the Gastineau Strait, and the surrounding snow-capped Alpine peaks. It is truly a magnificent sight.
Atop the mountain, you choose from any of a variety of scenic trails, hiking through the beautiful Tongass National Forest, perhaps even seeing a bald eagle or a bear in the distance.
Once you head back down the mountain, you take a quick shuttle to downtown Juneau for some shopping to pick up a few gifts, then its back to the ship for dinner.
As you finish your dinner, the ship heads back out into the channel, and you head to the theater for a show - the prefect way to end the fourth day of our virtual Princess cruise of Alaska.
