NCL Pearl Alaska Review

This is an NCL Pearl Alaska review, covering everything from the dining options to the bowling alley on board this amazing new ship (launched in 2007).

The Pearl is a beautiful ship that can accommodate over 2800 passengers and has everything onboard from a rock climbing wall to a bowling alley.

The Pearl was built to take full advantage of Norwegian's Freestyle Cruising concept, with 10 restaurants replacing the one or two large dining halls on traditional cruise ships, allowing passengers much greater flexibility in dining choices, both in terms of dinner times and cuisine variety.

The pearl currently cruises out of Seattle weekly from May through September on a round trip cruise that includes stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay National Park, and Victoria, British Columbia.

The Pearl has a wonderful variety of activities onboard, in addition to some of the best facilities of any ship that sails the Alaska cruise routes.

If there is a downside to the Pearl, it is the large size of the ship, and the number of passengers it holds.

At times, the lines for the restaurants can get a bit long, if the ship is fully booked (which it generally is in July and August). However, you can avoid the lines by simply eating a bit earlier or later than average.

Overall, the NCL Pearl is an amazing ship and one of the best ways to cruise Glacier Bay.
