Juneau Alaska Weather

Juneau Alaska weather is temperate and wet, with several feet of snow spread throughout the winter months, and 3-5 inches of rain in the spring and summer months.

While Juneau is wetter then nearby Skagway or the more distant Anchorage, it receives far less rain than Ketchikan to the south.

Juneau is surrounded by towering mountain peaks which receive far more precipitation and are quite a bit colder.

As a result, the mountains have are capped in snow for much of the spring and into summer, while Juneau is experiencing downright pleasant, warmer temperatures well into the 60’s.

Like Ketchikan, Juneau is located in the heart of Alaska’s lower temperate rainforest region.

The constant precipitation is what keeps this region green and wonderfully lush.

Nearby and Misty Fjords and Tracy Arm Fjord reap the benefits of the constant rain, with amazingly beautiful waterfalls blanketing the sides of their cliffs.
