Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is truly a magnificent hotel.

It is located in what I think is the most beautiful spot in the world, on the shore of Lake Louise in Alberta's Banff National Park.

Words really don't do this place justice - you have to see it to believe how amazingly beautiful it is.

If you are fortunate enough to get to stay there or even visit for the day, I think you'll understand why I rave about this hotel.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

The Fairmont is a world-class resort located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

The location is certainly amongst the most picturesque and breathtaking of any hotel or resort in the world.

The hotel was built at the end of the 19th Century by the Canadian Railroad.

The idea was to build a place so maginificent and regal that they would lure upper crust travellers to the great, untamed Canadian West.

It's really a beautiful building, but it's the location that really makes this place so special. There's nowhere else in the world that you can find this level of luxury within a national park.

The hotel is now owned by Fairmont.

If you aren't yet familiar with the company, Fairmont operates some of the best hotels in North America, including my favorite hotel in Hawaii, the Kea Lani on Maui.

Fairmont rivals Four Seasons in service and quality, and the Chateau certainly exemplifies this.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise looks out at the most famous view in all of the Canadian Rockies, the incredible emerald-green Lake Louise, which is ringed by spectacularly ruged alpine peaks.

It's one of those views that is so beautiful, it almost looks fake.

I could just sit and take it in for hours and not get tired of it.

Some of the many great activities available at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise include:

-hiking
-horseback riding
-mountain biking
-fishing
-canoeing
-fishing
-tennis
-golf

If you happen to visit in winter, there is also an incredible array of activities, including:

-downhill skiing
-cross-country skiing
-dog sledding
-skating
-sledding
-snowshoeing

The hotel has a health club, heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and steam room, along with spa services.

If you are traveling directly to the hotel, the nearest airport is in Calgary, 120 miles away or a 3 hour drive.

Vancouver is about 12 hours away by car or rail.

I can't recommend the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise enough. If it is within your budget, a stay here could well be the highlight of your trip.
