Much of coastal Alaska is incredibly lush cool-climate rainforest.
The wonderfully green cliffs and slopes along much of your cruise route are decorated with seemingly endless waterfalls and incredible wildlife.
The small towns and cities that you stop at along your cruise route are incredibly picturesque and historic, many with rich native and gold-rush era history.
The shopping in these towns is quite fun, and there are many great little galleries and restaurants to check out, along with wonderful historic spots and cultural museums.
But perhaps the most amazing thing about cruising Alaska is the serenity and pristine beauty of this place.
It's hard to describe the effect it has on you, except to say that it is soul-cleansing and utterly relaxing.
