We begin our fifth day of our cruise of Alaska at sea in the Gulf of Alaska.

Today is a perfect, clear day, and the immense and spectacular snow-capped peaks of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Canada’s Kluane National Park are visible off the starboard side of the ship.

The peaks in this region are some of the tallest in North America, rising to almost 20,000 feet (6,000 meters).

When not taking in the magnificent view or watching for humpback whales off the main deck, there is a wonderful assortment of activities to choose from aboard our ship, the Diamond Princess.

After breakfast, you head to the gym for a Pilates class and we run a few laps around the track. You then head to the Lotus Spa for a relaxing Swedish massage.

Then, after a wonderful lunch in the Italian themed Sabatini's restaurant, where you are served generous portions of some truly wonderful Italian food.

In the afternoon, you take in a recent feature film in the ship’s impressive theater, then you remain for a talk on glaciers given by the ship’s naturalist.

After dinner, you head to Club Fusion to watch that night’s round of Princess Idol, the cruise line’s take on American Idol, where your fellow passengers compete for the idol crown.

It’s a fun way to spend an evening and to wrap up the sixth day of our virtual cruise.

On the morning of the seventh day, you leave breakfast and head out on deck as the ship cruises into breathtaking College Fjord.

Cruise of Alaska

Here, you are given an up-close tour of some of the most impressive tidewater glaciers anywhere in the world.

Watching the glaciers calving and breaking off into the water is an amazing experience, one well worth bundling up for the cool morning on-deck (it’s a typically cool 59 degrees, with clouds rolling in).

After lunch, you head to the casino for a few hands of blackjack, then you head to the ship’s 9-hole putting green for a relaxing round of mini-golf.

Finally, after dinner, you head to the theater for a wonderful musical show. It’s the last night on our virtual cruise, and the lavish production is the perfect finale.

The next morning, you awake to find the ship already docked in Whittier, near Anchorage.

You disembark, thus ending your cruise of Alaska. But your Virtual Inland Alaska Tour is just about to begin.
