Best Alaskan Cruise Lines

I'm frequently asked which are the best Alaskan cruise lines. Of course, I have my own favorites, but I thought it would be fun to find out which cruise lines other passengers prefer.

Therefore, I conducted an informal poll of 100 past Alaska cruise passengers asking them the following question:

"Which major Alaska cruise line is your favorite?"

The responses to this survey contained a few surprises, although the cruise lines that the most passengers selected as their favorite came as no shock, as it is also my personal favorite.

So here are the results of this survey:

So Princess was selected as the favorite cruise line by the most passengers (33%), and, it is my favorite of the Alaskan cruise lines too.

Of course, Princess also carries the most cruise passengers in Alaska each year, so it makes sense that more people would select it as their favorite.

There were really two major surprises for me in this survey, the first being that NCL received so few votes. I have spoken with many people that love NCL, and their Freestyle Cruising concept is very popular.

The second surprise is that Carnival tied with Celebrity for fourth place. Carnival currently only runs one ship in Alaska, so this actually speaks quite well for their Alaskan cruise service.

All in all, this survey is hardly scientific, and if it shows anything, it's that all the major cruise lines in Alaska have their die-hard fans. I've long held that it's hard to go wrong when choosing an Alaskan cruise line.

When you choose, it's most important to find an itinerary that suites your needs and a cruise line that best fits your tastes and personality. So do your research, and you're sure to find a cruise and cruise line that are just right for you!
