A guide to Alaska cruises and inland Alaskan tours
Alaska travel vacations are amazing experiences. In fact, they can be one of the most memorable experiences of your life.
There is an incredible array of activities to do in Alaska for people of all ages and abilities.
Perhaps the first decsion you need to make when deciding on an Alaskan vacation is whether or not you want to take a cruise as part of your vacation.
Many of the most spectacular sites in Alaska are found along the rugged coastline from Anchorage south to the border with British Columbia.
This region includes many coasal glaciers, rugged peaks, temperate rainforest, mystical fjords, and the stunning Glacier Bay National Park.
This coastal region is also largely only accessible by boat, and a cruise tends to be the most economical and comforatble way to see it all.
If you do opt for a cruise, a popular option is to add an inland tour of central Alaska either before you depart or after you arrive back in Anchorage.
There are many wonderful rail tours that take you right from the cruise ship docks at either Whittier or Seward and head north past Anchorage to such incredibly beautiful inland areas as Denali National Park and Fairbanks.
Of course, if you would rather skip the cruise, you can still explore Alaska via train diectly from Anchorage, or you can take a self-guided auto tour of such amazing areas as the Kenai Peninsula, the beautiful seaside town of Valdez, and the amazing Mt. Mckinley region.
Whether you choose a cruise, an inland tour, or both, you are sure to have an absolutely amazing trip.
Alaska's beauty and mystic literally defy words. I still remember my first trip there more vividly than anywhere else I have visited.
It's no exaggeration to say that Alaska travel vacations can be the vacation of a lifetime.
