Alaska Cruise

Alaska Cruise Review

My Alaska cruise review covers the entire Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska Route, including ports-of-call, land excursions, and inland tours.

I have to admit, before I took an Alaska cruise, I really didn’t know what to expect.

I had spoken with many people who gave glowing accounts of their trips to the region, yet I couldn’t shake visions of barren tundra and icy wastelands.

Alaska Cruise Review

What I experienced in Alaska really blew my mind.

The state is far more diverse than most people would expect, with everything from lush green rainforest to quaint villages to soaring alpine peaks.

Most Alaska cruises follow a route along the Inside Passage, a several hundred mile long channel of the Pacific protected by a series of lush barrier islands.

Ships tend to sail one-way northbound out of Vancouver or southbound out of Anchorage (or nearby Seward), though some cruises follow a round-trip itinerary out of Vancouver, staying largely within the Inside Passage.

There are numerous small towns and cities along the Inside Passage at which the cruise ships make stops.

There is an amazing variety of activities at each of these port towns, with everything from salmon fishing to historical tours to dog sledding atop glaciers.

What make my cruise so special was the incredible natural beauty of this area.

On an Alaska cruise, you can see everything from breaching whales to giant sections of glaciers breaking off and dropping into pristine bays.

There is really something for everyone on one of these cruises, from seniors to extreme adventure seekers.

If I had to sum up my Alaska cruise review in a word, it would be simply “amazing”.
