What makes an Alaskan Cruise so unforgettable

Alaska adventure travel is some of the best in the world, with an incredible variety of natural features and activities.

Alaska is home to the two largest national parks in the United States, Denali National Park and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, each over three times the size of Yellowstone. Denali National Park is as large as the State of Massachusetts, and Wrangell-St. Elias is even bigger.

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, at 20,625 square miles, is over 20 times the size of the Sate of Rhode Island, and contains 9 of the 16 tallest peaks in North America, including Mount St. Elias, which at 18,008 feet is the second highest peak in the U.S. after Denali at 20,320 feet.

In recent years, Wrangell-St, Elias has grown in popularity amongst adventure travelers seeking to get away from the crowds.

One of the last true wilderness areas on the continent, this park is still relatively easy to access via a 7-8 hour drive from Anchorage, and the volume of visitors is still just a tiny fraction of those at most other parks, so you will almost always find yourself enjoying a true wilderness experience.

Activities at Wrangell-St. Elias include hiking, climbing, ice climbing, and some world-class mountaineering. Boating, kayaking, canoeing, and backcountry fishing are also popular. You can find outfitters and guides in Anchorage and McCarthy.

Inside a glacier

In addition to the tallest mountains, the state is also home to the largest ice fields, some of the wildest rivers, and most amazing scenery in North America.

Denali National Park and central Alaska are an adventure traveler’s wonderland, with more world-class mountaineering, wild rivers, rapids, and ice climbing.

Denali itself has endless hiking trails for people of all levels of fitness.

The Inside Passage in the southeastern section of the state is another paradise for people who love outdoor adventure.

Such towns as Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Skagway are hubs for outdoor excursions. The region has some of the most amazing ski kayaking anywhere.

Ice climbing, dog sledding, hiking, backcountry skiing, and mountaineering are also popular in this amazingly beautiful region.

Many companies specialize in providing adventure packages, including equipment, guides, transportation, and everything else you need for a safe, thrilling excursion.

There are really endless Alaska adventure travel options for people with all levels of experience.
